As we head into summer, KOHC is excited to celebrate National Oral Health Month in June. This month-long celebration is a chance for oral health professionals, parents, teachers, advocates, and community members to build awareness about the importance of oral health care for individuals of all ages.

This year, KOHC is highlighting ways to maintain good overall health throughout childhood and adulthood, including establishing positive oral hygiene habits and receiving routine dental care. Routine care allows for early detection of issues in the mouth and helps to prevent gum disease, cavities, and more severe health conditions. In addition to caring for your own oral health, teaching your children good oral hygiene habits early will set them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Oral health goes beyond just brushing and flossing your teeth each day, it also includes taking care of your mouth by getting regular check-ups and screenings, making healthy food and drink choices, and understanding the connections between your oral health and overall health. As sports and outdoor activities take place this summer, we sure to check out ways to protect your mouth and teeth, and stay hydrated by drinking fluoridated tap water.

Join KOHC in this annual celebration with your dentist, dental hygienist, children, friends, and members of your community to promote good oral health and overall health.
