KOHC members and oral health advocates in Kentucky are working hard to improve oral health for Kentuckians. An important part of this process is bringing elected officials on board to support policies that will uplift the health, well-being, education, and workforce needed for communities to  access oral healthcare.

On the2024 ballot, Kentuckians will be voting for more than the next U.S. President on November 5th – we will be electing Kentucky’s six U.S. House of Representatives, half of the state Senate and the full state House of Representatives, local officials, as well as two proposed state constitutional amendments.

Kentucky Youth Advocates has created anElectoral Advocacy Toolkit slideshowto help you prepare your organization, community group, or self to speak with candidates. Page 7 of the toolkit (Economic Well-Being) and page 9 (Health) address issues of access to nutrition, housing, dental care, and workforce needs.

Before you begin, you can also access statewide data on child well-being, including health and food insecurity, or see it broken down according to county or race/ethnicity.

After learning how kids are faring in your community, ask your candidates  what they plan to do to improve the lives and oral health access for kids and their families.

KOHC encourages oral health advocates to engage with the candidates this  election season and make your plan to vote:
