DESCRIPTION:The Kentucky Oral Health Coalition (KOHC) and its partners from across the state\, in collaboration with the Community Dental Clinic will host a regional oral health summit on April 29\, 2016. This is the 2nd of 4 regional meetings of 2016. We need your participation! \nThe Kentucky Oral Health Regional Summit will bring together a diverse and large number of leaders in the oral health community\, including local policy makers\, health advocates\, health professionals\, educators\, and students\, to increase the dental awareness among stakeholders and the public and to develop strategies to deal with the widespread dental access issues in Western Kentucky. The event is free for KOHC and Health Horizon Coalition members. If you are not a member\, the cost is $27.24 and this includes one year membership fees. Register here!  \nThe Kentucky Oral Health Regional Summit will take place at Owensboro Health on Friday\, April 29\, 2016. DESCRIPTION:The Kentucky Oral Health Coalition would like to invite you to it’s school based oral health convening on Wednesday\, July 15 at the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky office in Louisville. Kentucky Oral Health Coalition (KOHC) is comprised of members throughout the state representing public health dentistry\, private practice dental\, FRYSCs and school nurses\, KY board of education\, social service agencies and dental schools. The mission of the KOHC is to improve the oral health of all people in Kentucky. \nOur focus is on bringing oral health services to the schools for those in need\, assisting schools with the completion of the Kentucky Dental Screening form\, and breaking down barriers to good oral health that our school communities may face. This summer our group is having a meeting to discuss these topics\, and we would like to invite you\, or a representative from your school district\, to attend as an example of a district that either has high rates of return for your Dental Screening Form\, or have worked to increase your numbers within the last few years. We want to hear what has worked for you\, in order for us to assist those that may be struggling with returns. \nWe hope that you will be able to join us. SUMMARY:Children's Advocacy Day
DESCRIPTION:Children’s Advocacy Day at the Capitol began in 2004 as an effort to unite advocates from across the state to raise their voices on behalf of children’s safety\, health\, education and economic well-being. Hundreds of advocates from over 50 counties now gather at the Capitol in Frankfort every year to ask legislators to invest in kids. The 11th Annual Children’s Advocacy Day will be Thursday\, February 5\, 2015. In 2014 more than 600 advocates attended the event in Frankfort! Elected officials\, social workers\, parents\, teachers\, judges\, doctors\, public health experts\, therapists\, members of the military\, seniors\, and kids came together to rally on children’s issues from Blueprint for Kentucky’s Children agenda. \nJoin us for 11th Annual Children’s Advocacy Day on Thursday\, February 5\, 2015!\nRegistration begins at 9:00 AM\, followed by a rally at 10:00 AM\, and Blueprint for Kentucky’s Children information mini-seminars at 11:30 AM. Just so we have an idea of how many people to expect\, please RSVP for CAD here. (We would love for your group to join us! One person can RSVP for the entire group with an estimate of how many will attend.) And please plan to meet with your legislators to discuss how you want them to support Kentucky children. DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the Advisory Council for Medical Assistance (MAC) will take place on Thursday\, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 125 of the Capitol Annex.  The MAC is a group composed of providers\, members and health care advocates established by Kentucky state law to advise the Medicaid commissioner on administration and operation of the Medicaid program.  Each of its meetings includes an overview of major issues and initiatives from Medicaid staff\, as well as reports from Technical Advisory Committees\, which represent most of the major provider groups which serve Medicaid members.  These meetings provide a good opportunity to learn about current Medicaid issues and activities.
