Community Dental Clinic is a Bright Spot in Western Kentucky

The Kentucky Oral Health Coalition’s celebration of Bright Spot champions continues with our second recognition. The Bright Spot Committee is pleased to recognize Community Dental Clinic. Community Dental Clinic was established in 2010 in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Mission/Vision: Community Dental Clinic was established to offer care to children and adults in our communities struggling to receive dental services. The Community Dental Clinic provides free dental health education and dental screenings for students at schools in the community. There are also discounted services, based on income, to individuals with no dental insurance. They believe that everyone deserves an opportunity at a healthy smile.

Most Compelling Data: In the last two years, the Community Dental Clinic has provided over 5,000 screenings to elementary aged children from 15 different elementary schools. We extend an invitation to all children and families to make the CDC their dental home. We stress the importance of not only addressing emergent dental needs but also changing the mindset of each member of the family to encourage preventative oral care. In the 2016-2017 year, our production was $1,782,895.00 with 70% write off. We performed 18,088 procedures. Currently, there is a population of 95% Medicaid and 5% self-pay.Co
